Is killing the child of a rapist right or wrong?
The Adventist Church teaches that this is morally justifiable due to one of the special circumstances faced by women:
“Women, at times however, may face exceptional circumstances that present serious moral or medical dilemmas, such as significant threats to the pregnant woman’s life, serious jeopardy to her health, severe congenital defects carefully diagnosed in the fetus, and pregnancy resulting from rape or incest …” [Emphasis supplied]

Does the Bible agree? Not so! Look at what Scripture teaches:
“The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.” [Emphasis supplied]
Ref.: Deuteronomy 24:16.
The question is: Why is our church teaching what the Bible condemns? Because back in 1970 the church decided to profit from the killing of innocent unborn children and created a set of guidelines on abortion in opposition to God’s Word. This moral anomaly resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocent unborn children in our medical facilities.
Will our Adventist Church undo this terrible moral detour? We will soon find out! President Ted Wilson publicly stated that a specially created study group would do what is needed to align our guidelines with the Bible.
The work of this study group will be submitted to the October 10-16 General Conference Executive Committee, which if approved, will in turn be voted by the 2020 GC Worldwide Session. Let’s pray for the Holy Spirit to guide the minds and hearts of those in charge of such a monumental task.
