Elder Dennis Priebe; who has served the church as a pastor, college professor, and traveling evangelist for Amazing Facts; continues to hold seminars throughout the United States and around the world and is now preaching in defense of the church position on abortion and is critical of Prolife Adventist scholars.
He believes that Adventist acceptance of Evangelical Prolife teachings is a Trojan Horse that will lead to the formation of the Image of the Beast predicted in the Bible. He argues that coercion is inimical to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and that appealing to the state for reforming society is extremely dangerous to the Adventist existence as a Remnant prophetical movement.
“We desperately need to return to our Adventist pioneers who refused to get involved with party politics.”
The question is: Were our pioneers silent on abortion? Of course not! They actively participated in the abortion controversy and they strongly condemned the killing of the unborn, and condemned slavery as well.
In a recent sermon Priebe criticized the prolife writings of the growing number of Adventist scholars who are using the Bible to defend the right to life of the unborn. Priebe is right that we need to stay away from political alliance, but is definitely wrong in his criticism of the scholarly Prolife writings of Adventist professors.
